Canadian Art recognized at the 2011 Canadian Online Publishing Awards

Finalist for best e-newsletter, best video or multimedia feature, and best online-only article or series of articles

Canadian Art—the only visual-art publication or website honoured at the event—was a finalist for three consumer-division awards.

Canadian Art was proud to have two finalists in this competitive category recognizing the work of a pair of veteran contributors: John Bentley Mays and Nancy Tousley. Mays was nominated for his thoughtful review of the 2011 Venice Biennale, one of the few Canadian reports on the major international art event to be released in the week following its opening. Tousley was nominated for her in-depth online articles on oft-overlooked cultural topics, such as “Are Curators Unprofessional?,” “An Artist-Run Alberta,” and “The Group of Who?

BEST VIDEO OR MULTIMEDIA FEATURE
Our inaugural year as finalist in this category recognizes canadianartschool.ca’s online video series, which gathers insights from acclaimed artists working in various genres including photography, painting and performance art.
