Canadian Art Encounters provides an opportunity for audiences to engage with some of the most important artists and thinkers of our time—creating a provocative and lively event experience that encompasses lectures, book readings, and conversations between international art world luminaries and leading voices in Canada.

For this series of lectures and conversations, Canadian Art collaborates with major art institutions and cultural organizations to host thought-provoking talks by some of the international art world’s leading artists and thinkers.

Canadian Art Encounters has become an integral part of how we shape and present content at Canadian Art. Speakers regularly contribute to the magazine, a collaboration that proclaims our commitment to the interdisciplinary and intersectional, connecting our readers, and the Canadian art community, to innovative and influential creators and thinkers working across the world.

Past speakers include Marina Abramović, Julian Barnes, Aruna D’Souza, Andrea Fraser, Isabelle Graw, Thomas Hirschhorn, Janice Kerbel, Ben Lerner, Maggie Nelson, Taryn Simon, Hito Steyerl, Wolfgang Tillmans, Andrea Fraser and Trevor Paglen.
