Canadian Art’s first-ever pop-up launched in Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood on the evening of September 9 with a crowd of artists, dealers, collectors and other art-world figures on hand.
The main attraction was a chance to preview top-end artworks that will be going under the gavel at Canadian Art’s annual fundraiser—the Gallery Hop Gala and Auction, taking place at the Carlu on September 19.
Auction lots on view included a photograph by internationally renowned Canadian artist Edward Burtynsky, who recently premiered his latest film at TIFF; a painting by David Urban, widely regarded as the leading Canadian painter of his generation; and a print by Jason de Haan, a frontrunner for the 2012 Sobey Art Award.
The pop-up and auction preview continued from September 10 to 16 at 135 Yorkville Avenue, generously hosted by David Feldman, president and CEO, Camrost-Felcorp.
