This morning, the Power Plant announced the appointment of Julia Paoli to the position of assistant curator and Mark Teeple to the position of major events & business development coordinator.
The assistant curator position had been vacant since Jon Davies left for Oakville Galleries in mid-June, while the major events & business development coordinator position was left open in mid-summer when Tiffany Cox moved to Halifax.
Paoli is a recent MA graduate of Bard College’s Center for Curatorial Studies, having finished up there in 2011. Her recent curatorial projects include “Dispersion” at Trinity Square Video, “Social Choreography” at Gallery TPW and “The Rest is Real: Video Works by Aleesa Cohene” at Vtape. As a member of the Pleasure Dome programming collective, she has co-curated screenings and performances by Shana Moulton, A.K. Burns and A.L. Steiner.
Mark Teeple’s development experience in the not-for-profit sector includes work at the Canadian Business Hall of Fame and the MS Society of Canada.
No one has yet been named to the position of curator of exhibitions at the Power Plant, which was vacated by Melanie O’Brian in early summer.
