The board of directors of the Gardiner Museum has announced Kelvin Browne as its new executive director and CEO. Browne will officially take the helm November 4, 2013.
It isn’t a far jump for Browne, distance-wise. Currently, he is vice president communication at the Royal Ontario Museum, just across the street from the Gardiner. He has worked there for nine years on branding, marketing, revenue generation and other matters.
This past March, the Gardiner launched a search for a new CEO when Alexandra Montgomery left to assume the role of VP Philanthropy at Tides Canada in Vancouver.
The Gardiner, which specializes in ceramic art, is approaching its 30th anniversary. In the announcement release, board chair Karen Sheriff also thanked chief curator Rachel Gotlieb for filling the management role in the interim.
