The Art Gallery of Mississauga has hired Erin Rutherford as assistant curator.
Rutherford has worked at the Art Gallery of Ontario and Vtape, and she holds an MA in art history from Carleton University, a post-graduate certificate in museum management and curatorship from Fleming College, and a BA in classical civilizations, philosophy and anthropology from the University of Toronto.
In a release, Rutherford said, “It is my aim to fully realize the gallery’s mandate: to bring art to the community and the community to art—through the pushing of boundaries and the substantiation of the gallery as a living, social site.”
The AGM is currently enacting a five-year plan to “expand its mark on the Mississauga community.”
A press release says the gallery will be unveiling its new mission, vision and direction this summer.
