Artist-run centre Hamilton Artists Inc. has appointed Caitlin Sutherland as programming coordinator.
Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Sutherland has lived and worked in Hamilton for the last 10 years. She has worked as an independent artist-curator and arts writer (including contributions to Canadian Art) with a background in curatorial practice, criticism, and museum studies from OCAD U and U of T.
Previously, Sutherland worked at the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre, and the University of Toronto Art Centre as well as Hamilton Artists Inc. Independently, she is currently also co-curating “Infinite DayDreams: Reflections on the Sublime Imaginary,” featuring the work of Max Streicher at the Burlington Arts Centre.
As programming coordinator, Sutherland works with visiting and member artists to realize their exhibitions, organize the gallery’s growing publication program, and identifies new programming, community partners, and funding opportunities for the gallery.
