Twenty artists from Newfoundland, Labrador, other parts of Canada and the northeastern United States have been announced for the next Bonavista Biennale. Started in 2017, the biennale is situated on the Bonavista Peninsula in outport Newfoundland. It includes exhibitions as well as site-specific outdoor installations along a 100-kilometre-long coastal loop.

The next edition of the biennale is themed on “Floe” and takes place August 17 to September 15. According to a release, the 2019 edition “(re)considers the history of exchange, while acknowledging the histories and cultures of the Beothuk, Mi’kmaq, Innu and Inuit of the province, through the perspectives of a diverse group of artists.” It is being curated by Catherine Beaudette of 2 Rooms Contemporary Art Projects, David Diviney of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and Matthew Hills of Memorial University‘s Grenfell Art Gallery.
