This week, Canadian Art associate editor David Balzer is in Miami for Art Basel Miami Beach and its dozens of satellite art fairs and activities. At the press preview for ABMB he spotted a variety of new works by Canadian and international artists. Among them are textile-based wall pieces by NSCAD alumnus Brent Wadden; a Nova section installation by Vancouver-based artist Erdem Tasdelen; and new sculptures by recent Gershon Iskowitz prize winner Geoffrey Farmer.

Also notable at the fair are new editions by Dutch-Canadian artist Jim Verburg, Ontario artist Jimmy Limit, and Concordia University graduate Laurie Kang at the booth of Toronto non-profit Art Metropole, which shares a space at the fair each year with New York’s Printed Matter. Also prominent is perennial fair exhibitor Landau Fine Art of Montreal, which this year brought blue-chip works by Massimo Campigli and Giorgio de Chirico (among others) to the fair.
