Canadian Art Nominated for Three National Magazine Awards

One of the nominations is for Best Magazine: Art, Literary and Culture

The nominations list for the National Magazine Awards was announced this morning, and Canadian Art is in the running for three important awards.

Samantha Marie Nock’s feature article “Saw Your Instagram,” which appeared in our Fall 2018 issue, is nominated in the Personal Journalism category. Lindsay Nixon was handling editor on that feature. The article is now online, and readable here. Other publications nominated in this category include Hazlitt and the New Quarterly.

Canadian Art’s Dirty Words issue, published in Spring 2018, is nominated for the Issue Grand Prix. Selected articles from the issue are readable online here. David Balzer was editor of the issue, Divya Mehra is featured on the cover, and contributors included Debra Rother, Bryne McLaughlin, Barbara Solowan, Caoimhe Morgan-Feir, Leah Sandals, Yaniya Lee, Lindsay Nixon, Merray Gerges, Nicholas Brown, Lazarus James, Valérie Frappier, Rosa Aiello, Maryse Larivière, Alison Sinkewicz, Haley Mlotek, Nasrin Himada, Steffanie Ling, Linda Besner, Kai Cheng Thom, Sarah Hollenberg, Jaclyn Bruneau, Angela Marie Schenstead and Tammer El-Sheikh, among others. Also nominated in this category are the Walrus and Alberta Views, among other publications.

Last but not least, Canadian Art is nominated for Best Magazine: Art, Literary and Culture. Also nominated in this category are esse art + opinions and the Site Magazine. Canadian Art is published by the Canadian Art Foundation.

The winners of the National Magazine Awards will be announced on May 31 in Toronto.
