Thirty artists have been named as finalists for the 2019 Kingston Prize. The award, presented every two years, is unique in Canada for focusing exclusively on portraiture.
The prize winner this year will receive $20,000, while two honourable mention recipients will receive $2,000 each.
The winner will be announced at the Firehall Theatre in Gananoque on October 17. The jury that will make the decision consists of Catharine Mastin, director of the Art Gallery of Windsor; Sarah Milroy, chief curator of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection; and Phil Richards, artist.
