Robert Bean is a media artist and writer, and a Professor at NSCAD University. Utilizing public archives and collections, Bean considers the temporal uncertainty that photographs and digital media evoke in relation to experience, technology and language.
Shaya Ishaq is an interdisciplinary designer, craftswoman, community organizer and DJ. Working with ceramics and textiles, she explores how these craft disciplines connect lives through culture, tradition, material and function. As a Kenyan-Canadian born into a legacy of weavers, Shaya is fascinated by fibre based techniques which enable storytelling in the craft traditions of her homeland.
Barbara Lounder is a visual artist and teaches at NSCAD University. Her current art practice focuses on walking as a creative methodology; her performative works engage members of the public in carefully designed walking activities.
Mary Elizabeth Luka, PhD, is an award-winning director, producer, writer, and devoted maker of digital and television projects. A Banting Postdoctoral Fellow, Luka is Chair of Arts Nova Scotia, and a published researcher and speaker. Her research focuses on the concept of creative citizenship to investigate how civic, culture and business sectors are networked in the digital age, including the intricate ways that governments, universities, corporations and socio-cultural enterprises connect.
Jade Peek is a 21 year old, Urban Mi’kmaq and Black Afro-Indigenous Nova Scotian Woman of Trans Experience. She is a multi-disciplinary artist, curator, performer and facilitator, currently finishing her Undergraduate Degree in Art History and Critical Studies focusing on Black and Indigenous Methodologies and Social Criticism, Education, and Art Production at NSCAD University. She has extensive experience in BIPOC community and student movements. Jade aims to continue the work of her ancestors and predecessors, break down the barriers that Racialized and Indigenous peoples have to face on a systemic and individual level, and all femmes who experience oppression.
