On Saturday, April 12, 2014, please join us for our annual Vancouver Gallery Hop, a day of art, talks and tours happening at galleries throughout the city. The Canadian Art Foundation Gallery Hop Vancouver is presented in partnership with RBC, with support from the Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver.
The day always begins with a free keynote talk or panel to set some themes in motion. In the afternoon, a series of free tours and talks are led by art-world experts at a selection of Vancouverʼs galleries and museums. In the evening, the Hop wraps up with a special reception celebrating the Spring issue of Canadian Art.
Public Conversation
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Vancouver Art Gallery
Courtroom 302
The Gallery Hop day begins with a public conversation that will whet the palate. Join us for this event before setting out! In it, Vancouver artists Colleen Heslin, Emily Hill, Jeremy Hof, Angela Teng and Elizabeth McIntosh will discuss ideas within contemporary painting and materiality. This informal discussion draws together artists whose work challenges traditional boundaries of the medium and whose hybrid approaches lead us to consider painting as a means, and not an end.
Tours and Talks
1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Engage with Vancouver through four free tours through many of the city’s art galleries and institutions. This year, each stop will feature a talk or event, making for a more interactive experience.
Magazine Launch
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Contemporary Art Gallery
After the day of free talks and tours, make your way to the Contemporary Art Gallery for the launch of the Spring issue of Canadian Art.
To attend this free magazine launch, please RSVP to rsvp@canadianart.ca by April 8.
