The world premiere of Kehinde Wiley: An Economy of Grace kicks off the Reel Artists Film Festival—North America’s only film fest dedicated to documentaries about art and artists—at our February 19 Opening Night Screening and Celebration.
Wiley, the artist renowned for works in which today’s African American men are represented via historical European painting styles, will be in attendance and will be discussing the film and his work following the screening.
Last year, Wiley was profiled in GQ and the Evening Standard, among other publications, and his work is in the collection of many leading art institutions, including LA’s Hammer Museum, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Miami’s Rubell Collection.
Kehinde Wiley: An Economy of Grace—directed by Jeff Dupre, producer of Marina Abramovic The Artist is Present—traces the steps of Wiley’s process leading up to his first exhibition of female portraits, which had Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy as a collaborator.
Join us for a cocktail dinner, a world premiere screening and a discussion with an internationally renowned artist at this festival launch and fundraiser for the Canadian Art Foundation’s educational programs.
RAFF 2014, which will continue with festival screenings until February 23, takes place at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, one of the world’s top venues for film and film-based art practices.
The schedule for this world premiere screening is as follows:
7:00 p.m. Cocktail Dinner Reception
