On February 20, 2013, Canadian Art Foundation presented an exclusive preview version of Megumi Sasaki’s HERB & DOROTHY 50X50 at the Opening Night Screening and Celebration of the Reel Artists Film Festival in Toronto.
In her new filmic exploration of the 50X50 Gift Project, Sasaki revisits the remarkable art-collecting couple Herbert and Dorothy Vogel, who stole the hearts of the New York art scene and amassed one of the world’s most important contemporary-art collections. The couple was the subject of her 2009 film Herb & Dorothy, which had its Canadian debut at the Reel Artists Film Festival in 2009.
The evening—which also marked RAFF’s 10th anniversary—included a cocktail dinner reception, a screening of the special excerpts, a conversation between Megumi Sasaki, Dorothy Vogel and Bill Clarke and a post-screening celebration. All took place at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto.
