Gallery Hop Montreal

Join us on June 14, 2014, for our first-ever Gallery Hop Montreal, presented in partnership with RBC.

Just like our Gallery Hops in Vancouver and Toronto, the day in Montreal will feature a vibrant program of free art talks, as well as a magazine launch—in this case, for Canadian Art‘s hot-off-the-presses Summer 2014 issue. Here is a general schedule for the day; for more details, visit canadianart.ca/montrealhop.

Hop Celebration and RBC Canadian Painting Competition Finalists Announcement
11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Parisian Laundry, 3550 St-Antoine St. W.

The day will begin with a brunch celebrating the first-ever Gallery Hop Montreal and the announcement of the RBC Canadian Painting Competition finalists. Gallery Hop participants are encouraged to join RBC curator Robin Anthony and Canadian Art editor Richard Rhodes before setting out on Hop day. Exhibitions on view at Parisian Laundry include “Sleepwalking Daydreams” by Rick Leong and “Deflective Skepticism & Critical Plinking” by MAW. To attend this free event, please RSVP to rsvp@canadianart.ca by June 6.

Dissections is an interdisciplinary panel series presented as part of DHC/ART’s program of public events designed to encourage an exchange of thoughts and impressions on contemporary art. In this particular panel, experts will speak to concepts, themes and approaches inspired by the artists and works in the DHC’s current exhibition “Come and See” by Jake and Dinos Chapman. After the presentations, the public is invited to take part in a group discussion. Panelists include Leisure (artists and curators Meredith Carruthers and Susannah Wesley); Julie Roberge Van Der Donckt, PhD candidate in art history, Université de Montréal; Christine Tappolet, professor of philosophy, Université de Montréal; and Dr. Harvey Giesbrecht, practicing psychotherapist and psychoanalyst. This panel will take place in English and French.
