Panel Discussion: Making Opportunity

Contemporary Art Gallery, 555 Nelson Street
With important cultural infrastructure projects underway, or recently completed, it is time to take a look at what kinds of new opportunities these projects will bring to the Vancouver art scene. Join Canadian Art editor Richard Rhodes as he kicks off the Gallery Hop with a panel that looks into the future that Vancouver is building for itself.

Finish your Gallery Hop at the Canadian Art wrap party, being held at Equinox Gallery. Marten Elder’s “Perceptual Renderings” and a group show called “Pictured Windows” will be on view. Richard Rhodes, editor of Canadian Art, and David Balzer, associate editor and author of Curationism: How Curating Took Over the Art World and Everything Else, will introduce the Spring 2015 issue of the magazine, and subscriptions will be available at a special Hop rate.

RBC knows emerging artists need our help, which is why we focus on artists in the early stages of their careers through the RBC Emerging Artists Project. This project is about more than just financial support. Whether it is through mentorship, programming, providing access to a broader audience or facilitating awards and prizes, we support up-and-coming artists to help them gain national recognition for their talent as they bridge the gap from emerging to established.

Great Northern Way Tour: Monte Clark represents Colleen Heslin, winner of the 2013 RBC Canadian Painting Competition, and jury member Holger Kalberg. The Capture Photography Festival is an annual celebration of photography and lens-based art. Capture presents more than 100 free exhibitions, events, films and public art projects throughout the month of April with the participation of more than 75 cultural institutions across Metro Vancouver.
