Join Canadian Art editors and contributors on Saturday, June 16, for a free day of art talks in Edmonton.
These hour-long gallery visits are held throughout the day at different locations (talks will be approximately 30 minutes long, and start about 10 minutes into the hour). The day will conclude with a launch party at dc3 Art Projects for Canadian Art’s Summer 2018 issue.
Gallery Day Talks

A screening of Richelle Bear Hat’s work In Her Care (2017) followed by a conversation between the artist and Canadian Art contributor and Untitled Art Society director Natasha Chaykowski.
4:00 – 5:00 P.M.

Edmonton artist and MacEwan alumna Brenda Draney walks us through her large-scalemultimedia installation “Trapline”, followed by a Q&A with the artist and Nicholas Brown, Canadian Art’s director of programs and partnerships.
Summer Issue Launch

dc3 Art Projects, 10567 111 Street
Join Canadian Art editors and contributors as we host the launch of the Summer 2018 issue, “Translation”. The event is hosted by dc3 Art Projects, where exhibitions by Cindy Baker and Zachari Logan are on view.
The reception will open with a mural unveiling on the back wall of dc3’s exterior by artist Lauren Crazybull and a team of youth from Edmonton, followed by a conversation with the artist and Lindsay Nixon, Canadian Art‘s Indigenous editor-at-large.
Griffin Prize-winning poet, scholar and Canadian Art contributor Billy-Ray Belcourt will give a reading following the mural unveiling.
Following the launch, head over to the studio spaces next to dc3 Art Projects where artists Isabelle Kuzio, Jacob Dutton, Leila Plouffe, Sydney Ashton and Ryland Fortie will be showing new work and works in progress from 8:00–11:00 p.m.
