Tate Media producer Susan Doyon in conversation with Canadian Art Foundation executive director Ann Webb at the 2013 Reel Artists Film Festival
On February 24, 2013, at the Reel Artists Film Festival in Toronto, Tate galleries producer Susan Doyon talked with Canadian Art Foundation executive director Ann Webb following screenings related to online exhibition “The Gallery of Lost Art” and the TateShots series of short films about art.

Nominated just before RAFF as one of five finalists for the 2013 SXSW Interactive Awards, Art Category, “The Gallery of Lost Art” is an online exhibition of essays, photos and film footage that looks at artworks that no longer exist or are ephemeral in nature. Either destroyed, stolen, discarded or temporary, several significant artworks from the last century can no longer be seen—including works by Joseph Beuys, Daniel Buren, Christo & Jeanne-Claude, Eva Hesse, Diego Rivera and Jean Tinguely. Susan Doyon directed and produced the films included in this exhibition.
TateShots is an ongoing series of short films about art and artists related to Tate’s collections, exhibitions and events that has covered leading artists including Yayoi Kusama, Michael Craig-Martin and Alex Katz. Doyon also currently works with Tate Media, the team of people who produce weekly TateShots and other films for Tate’s online channels. Through her work, Doyon has interviewed Tacita Dean, Gabriel Orozco and Antony Gormley, among other artists.
In this post-screening Q&A, Doyon discusses how Tate’s short films for broadcast and exhibition use are created, and reveals her insights into making compelling and engaging art-related documentaries.
