Over the past eight years, Montreal’s Papier—an event that focuses on works on paper—has built a reputation as a tightly edited fair. Among the highlights in this year’s edition, which runs April 22 to 24, are a roster of 38 galleries and 400 artists, as well as a free series of educational programs.

For Papier16, the fair moves to Montreal’s historic Old Port area to take up residence in Hangar 16, a century-old building that once greeted travellers arriving by boat to the city. Offering a remarkable amount of space and light, it’s a short walk from Champs-de-Mars metro station.

Join Canadian Art at Papier16 for a talk by managing editor Rosie Prata on Saturday, April 23, at noon.

During the talk, Prata will ask, How can private-sector businesses and public-funding agencies stimulate, sustain and grow the province’s contemporary art scene? Panellists include Megan Bradley, codirector of Parisian Laundry; Marie-Claude Lortie, columnist for La Presse; and Anthony Burnham, artist represented by Galerie René Blouin. More information is available through the talk’s Facebook event page.

Before you head to the fair, make sure to check out our picks from the Papier16 fair preview, including all our not-to-be-missed works on paper.
