Cambridge Art Galleries | Idea Exchange

Cambridge Art Galleries | Idea Exchange presents an ambitious roster of changing exhibitions of contemporary art, architecture, and design with three gallery locations in the City of Cambridge: Queen’s Square, Preston, and Design at Riverside. We have a growing permanent collection of approximately 200 works of contemporary Canadian fibre-based art, a unique specialization which reflects the region’s textile heritage. Additionally, we have a strong partnership with the University of Waterloo, School of Architecture through our Design at Riverside gallery and in 2008 Cambridge Art Galleries represented Canada at the Venice Biennale of Architecture.

Our affiliation with Idea Exchange and its multiple library and gallery locations provides the community with wide access to our adaptive and diverse programs including art exhibitions and education programs for all ages, as well as special events. In addition to our popular green Printmaking Studio, we also annually offer artist lectures, curatorial talks, film screenings as part of the TIFF film circuit, concerts, performances, and bus trips.

Cambridge Art Galleries is a medium sized public art gallery that is part of the larger Idea Exchange cultural institution. The gallery is supported by multiple levels of government including: the City of Cambridge, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Canada Council for the Arts.
