Su-Ying Lee, formerly an independent curator as well as grant and administrative coordinator at the Canadian Art Foundation, is now assistant curator at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art in Toronto. She commenced her duties on January 7. The museum says it received more than 200 applications from across North America for the job.

Recent projects for Lee include Cuitlacoche, a year-long cross-disciplinary program at the Justina M. Barnicke Gallery and Hart House which examined contentious aspects of food production and distribution through a garden installation by artist Ron Benner, downloadable MP3 food tours and a moderated public talk. Lee earned both her BA and MA at the University of Toronto.

Lee has also worked on projects at the Art Gallery of Mississauga and the Blackwood Gallery. Prior to becoming involved in art, she trained and held positions in the realm of social work.

Curator Camilla Singh left MOCCA to pursue her own artistic practice in 2009. From then until Lee’s appointment, there had been no other curatorial position at MOCCA besides that of artistic director and curator, which continues to be held by David Liss.

Gina Facchini also departed as head, exhibitions and collections, at MOCCA in February 2012 to become production manager, exhibitions, at TIFF.
